The past week I had the amazing opportunity to go to Valdez, Alaska and film as a stunt double for a music video for a Japanese band, Girl Next Door. The main objective was to get some great ski shots as well as a ski-BASE, the plan was to come up with something similar to the classic James Bond scene where he is being chased by the bad guys and ends up ski basing to escape.
It was my first time to AK as well as my first time flying around in helicopters. I loved it!!! However it just made me itching to get back to AK and lay my claim on some of those gigantic mountains- I couldn’t help myself from picking out all the lines I would love to ski someday- (absolutely endless)

One of the two helicopters we were cruising around in-
We didn’t get to do enough skiing in the short time we were there but I got a first decent off this little guy- The scariest part of the whole trip was getting out of the heli on top of the thing- it wasn’t big enough to land so I had to hop out with it hovering onto a 3 foot wide ridge. Crazy! The skiing was really fun, smooth and deep- fast and fun.

And…… the outfit. Oh the outfit…. ha!
Jesse and I in the heli

Our ski BASE was epic- sunset light, thousand foot cliff- the canopy ride was unbelievable, flying around with the most amazing backdrop you could imagine. It was pretty intense with two helicopters hovering close to you filming, along with the immense magnitude of the place. But needless to say, it was epic. My all-white outfit, all white rig and all white parachute worked out great (surprisingly) because the warm sunset light made it a vibrant pink against a dramatic backdrop. The footage, especially the footage shot from the Cineflex camera that was mounted on the nose of one of our helicopters, is some of the coolest base footage I’ve seen. I’m so excited to see it!
So for now I can just dream about the next time I get to spend some more time in the enormity of those beautiful mountains. There were moments that just the sight of the endless Chugach range would take my breath away. Endless lines to ski, a million peaks to explore, you could spend a lifetime there.
Stay tuned and get excited for the music video of “Winter Game” by Girl Next Door. I’ll post it as soon as I see it!
Last weekend a big crew of us took off to the Royal Gorge, Colorado for the Go Fast Games, which is a really awesome BASE event that we get to jump off the worlds highest suspension bridge into a narrow and scary canyon for three days, it was awesome!!! I went last year and watched and was sooo excited to get to participate this year. On the way out we stopped and met up with some more people in Rifle and Ted Davenport took a crew of 11 of us up to his local cliff “W hotel,” a gorgeous 800 footer with probably a thousand feet of hillside after that. It was amazing! Zoo load!!!
Here’s the cliff-

Then we arrived at the Royal Gorge, got all registered- paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork- 9 am the next morning we switched to sending mode and got to work. We also spent the time filming with none other than Glen Plake, doing an episode for his “Reel Thrills” show. Plake hit up the bungee from the bridge- pretty hillarious. It was cool meeting a total legend and the first pro skier I ever even knew about!
So now it’s back to school and counting down the days until ski season. I’m ready- and I need it to be here!!! It’s snowing in Utah and I have a feeling its coming sooner than we think.

For the whole month of August- Jesse, Alex, and I took off to Thailand for a few weeks to hang out on the most gorgeous beach I’ve ever seen and jump off a beautiful cliff right on the water. It was paradise! Then we headed to Malaysia to join in on a BASE jumping building tour in conjunction with the celebration of “Merdeka,” the Malaysian independence day. It was a huge honor and we were seen as heros to the Malasians, I had the opportunity to shake the hands of the prime minister and many powerful politicians. It was great to be in a situation where B.A.S.E jumping was so highly regarded!
The trip was amazing, and I’ll share a few of the hundreds of photos we took!
On Ton Sai Beach, Thailand, our cliff behind me.

Riding Elephants!

Jumping on the beach, 500 feet!

Parading us in rickshaws for the opening ceremony in Penang, Malaysia. Hillarious!

Jesse and I jumping off KL- two way!

Off KL in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Long slow gainers are so much fun!

The trip was amazing!!! I would LOVE to go back and can’t wait for my next adventure.
Back in school now- workin hard until the snow flies!!!
